Hindu Procession

Writing From Hither Green
According to a notice pinned in the window of our local shop, the Hindu procession that I first wrote about here back in 2005, is due to occur again tomorrow. It passes down Leahurst Road, and we rush round to watch it, after being alerted by the unmistakable sound of those weird clarinets.

I still don't know what it's all about - it has similarities with, but is obviously not the same as the event Cllr Paul Bentley writes about here, but as he says, it is very colourful and friendly.

It also inevitably reminds me of our own Jack in the Green

I took this picture in 2006-

I notice the stewards in that photo are wearing tabards of the Thurkkai Amman Temple in Ealing, which is probably a clue, it seems to be the work of the Sri Lankan community.

I shall endeavor to find out more before tomorrow - including times.

But Richard, hang on, some of these people must be immigrants.

This is a possibility I'm prepared to entertain.
